Founded in 2017, First Due Fishing began by handcrafting custom fishing rods for friends and family. In 2022, we expanded into bait production, with our Detroit Jigging Minnows quickly becoming a customer favorite. By 2025, our focus transitioned to producing proven, fish-catching colors and designs that consistently deliver results on the water.
Every rod we build is handcrafted in Battle Creek, Michigan, with annual production of 20–50 rods. Our offerings vary throughout the year and may include ice rods, fly rods, walleye rods, and panfish rods. Because each rod is built individually, our inventory changes frequently and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Our baits are produced in small batches with a primary focus on panfish and walleye baits, our most popular and in-demand products.
At First Due Fishing, we are dedicated to making fishing products designed to catch fish—not just anglers. With a commitment to quality craftsmanship and functionality, we strive to provide anglers with reliable tools that help them succeed on the water.
The company is proudly owned and operated by a full-time IAFF firefighter, bringing the same dedication and integrity from public service into every rod and bait we produce.
